Excitement x 2

One is quite excited. Not only does Masterchef series two kick off tonight (25 minutes and counting - One hopes there will be someone as cute and cool as justine this series, but is it possible? Who knows) but One has also got a (hopefully) delicious dinner in the oven...

On the left we have some chicken breasts with a crust of parme, parsley, chives, garlic, salt and pepper and with some baby roma tomatoes roasting in there too. On the right we have some carrot being roasted with some butter, honey and capers...

Yet to come to a dinner plate in aflatofonesown are peas, broccoli and some corn.

Only thing missing is some taters, but its much healthier without.

Never fails to satisfy

Dear Mr Zyliss,

One doesn't know you, but One certainly likes what you do. One has your garlic crusher and it has served One valiantly for almost four years now. You seem to think of everything, like how to get the mushed up bits of garlic out of the crusher when One has finished with it and now, you have delivered this into One's life:

and One isn't quite sure what you'll do next, but One knows one thing for sure, its bound to bring much happiness to kitchens around the world.

And yes, One realises that One has just written an entry about a garlic crusher and a veggie peeler but One thinks its a worthy blog entry.

Love,

One

Its no secret

It truly is no secret One loves the country and for many reasons, the people, the fresh air, the couture options, the fun that can be had and of course, the fresh produce.

One also loves that One can pick up the freshest and most delicious fresh fruit and veggies for next to nothing. Seriously, this rather hi-tech roadside veggie stall had delicious rock melon, corn, pumpkins and broccoli. One picked up some of the sweetest corn one has ever eaten.

Said corn was then used to make delicious corn fritters which the SO added some polenta to the mix and were sublime!

Hello (new) lover...

The title of this entry is one of One's favourite quotes of all time - Carrie (Carrie - SATC), it has such application in One's life:

New kitchen: 'hello lover'

New shoes: 'hello lover'

New Le Creuset Skillet: 'HELLO LOVER'

Oh and those garlic prawns were delicious too!

A Truffle Update

So this is what the Truffles looked like before they were dunked in Valhrona

Saturday Lunch

One isn't known for One's love of seafood as a general rule, however this Saturday lunch, One made an exception.

These are the beautiful fresh Albany Oysters that were whipped up at the Ritz. After gobbling down about a dozen natural, it was time to move on to Kilpatrick.

One's question is this: what does bacon not go with?

Splish Splosh Splash

This weekend One took a little trip down to the Great Southern and of course One's latest obsession came along too, One's steel capped gumboots!

They are so comfy and One wore them to the Farmers' and Fish Markets and for a bit of a splash in the car park too.

Very Good Indeed.

March Madness

March has been madness, and with April now upon One it is time to repent for One's lack of blogging.

One starts here with the end of March or more properly, the begining of April:
Inside this box are about 20 little bites of chocolate heaven - home made Valrhona chocolate truffles.

Continuing the joy of Rochelle Adonis classes, the SO and One went to a chocolate class only to learn how to make some wonderful little chocolate treats including the truffles, chocolate macaroons ala Francaise and sans horrible food colouring, a white chocolate and cherry slice, dark chocolate mouse so decadently delicious it should properly be illegal and also how to write in chocolate!

As always the ladies at RA C+C were delightful and that crush just grew a little bit more...
