No Pain, No Gain

You will recall that last weekend there was a bathroom revolution

Well much like all other great events in history, it cannot be all upwards and onwards in one's own bathroom. Today this happened....
Yep that is the same wall and what is going on I hear you ask. Well the terrible Ed the Electric hot water system is dead. He's off elsewhere and Rita Rinnai is about to burst onto the scene!

Yummi Mummi Indeed

What's in the box I hear you ask?

My lunch was, what a terrific discovery on the way back from CR today I made. Yummi Mummi is a little lunch bar in Paragon Arcade and it does a packed lunch box.

I had a delicious chicken, tomato, cheese, lettuce and pesto mayo wholegrain roll with an orange and mango juice and choc-honeycomb cupcake.

Yummo, although I must admit, the cupcake was mostly choc, with just a piece of honeycomb atop honeycomb coloured icing.

Plumbing

So one cannot renovate a kitchen without the help of a plumber and a plumber is not a plumber without a crack.

That gave way to this today which is where the new pipes will go:
So much for the beautiful paint job. And with all these new pipes there's a great need for hot water and hot water will flow steady hot and strong from my new hot water system!

Isn't Rita Rinnai a good lookin lass?!

The Stanley

Great news for one's neighbourhood came on Friday afternoon with news that The Stanley has opened.

A long awaited and much anticipated opening one must say the wait was worth it. A casual small bar where one can relax and unwind after a long day while on route to aflatofonesown.

Great wine list and bar snacks and best of all you can grab a burger from the new(ish) Flipside next door and have it with your drink in the bar!

PLUS, Finally there's a bar in Perth that you can have a proper conversation in!!

Demolition man

Last time you saw the kitchen it looked like this and I was boasting about the new blind that I had put up...

Now it is looking something more like this...

Yes, the demolition began on Saturday morning and we're off and racing towards a new kitchen with power points galore!

Handy Man Part Two

So I have also revolutionised the bathroom today. You may recall the bathroom as looking like this:

And it had a terrible shower head.

After The Handy Man (thats me) hit the bathroom we now have a fantastic, level and evenly hung mirror:

And also a brand new, non-clogged shower head with massage setting:
And let me tell you, it is not that difficult to install a new shower head. Simply turn off the taps, unscrew the old shower head, apply the plumbing tape to the exposed thread and then screw on the new shower head. I am looking forward to my first new shower head shower!!

So if you don't hear from me for a while, you will know what one is doing...

House Warming - #1 and a supremely high point!!

So Benno and Solange came over this evening for some wine and cheese and brought with them this most AMAZING gift:

It is the Onda broom and dust pan by Kashim Rashid who is an uber designer and I had previously lusted after his designs at MoMA.

Now I have one in aflatofonesown.

Kashim advocates that good design should be available to all. I cannot agree more. I plan on allowing many to use the Onda in aflatofonesown.

Handy Man Part One

In the absence of SO I have been a handyman of grand proportions today.

Aside from dealing with unhelpful folk in the tile shops of Osborne Park, I managed to get a new shelf for the shower that fits over the hole left by the previous inhabitants.
BUT I have impressed myself with my handiwork.

I have installed a blind in the kitchen so that the kitchen window is no longer naked like this:

but rather looks spiffy like this:
